About the role
The Warehouse Lead oversees the shipping and receiving department and is responsible for the proper handling of materials, adherence to safety procedures, and proving accurate and timely shipments and deliveries. They will use their knowledge to plan and assign work, ranging from receiving, storing, inventory, shipping materials and raw materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Food Safety & Safety: Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
- Responsible for proper loading and shipping of all outgoing orders; Ensures that quantities are correct, and that the product meets the quality requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring that all paperwork (orders, bill of landings, reports etc.) is properly filled out and that the information is accurate.
- Responsible for following safety procedures; Ensures the team is properly trained on how to operate equipment such as forklift, electric lift, and truck.
- Responsible for completing team member injury investigation and reports timely and accurately.
- Responsible for completing scheduled Safety Inspections and submitting observation cards timely.
- Responsible for working with the purchasing agents to coordinate and schedule incoming deliveries. Also, communicating any damage or expired material to the adequate department
- Responsible for ensuring that the warehouse and freezers are kept clean and organized.
- Responsible for proper storage of materials and finished products in the warehouse layout.
- Responsible for communicating with the Warehouse Manager to notify any order shortages.
- Responsible for communicating any damaged products to the Warehouse Manager.
- Responsible for coordinating the materials requisition for production with the Corn and Flour departments.
- Responsible for delegating orders and tasks within the warehouse team.
- Responsible for ensuring products are being used by FIFO.
- Responsible for ensuring the company trucks are clean and follow safety procedures.
- Responsible for coordinating breaks and lunches to ensure rest/ meal period compliance.
- Responsible for keeping all warehouse personnel productive and performing their job functions.
- Responsible for coordinating and communicating team member schedule; submitting attendance reports and time off requests timely to HR.
- Responsible for providing team member performance feedback to the Warehouse Manager.
- Actively participates in the Safety Committee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-3 years’ relevant shipping and receiving work experience required.
- 2-3 years’ experience operating Forklift / Industrial Equipment
- 1-2 years’ experience using the company’s ERP system and/ or choice of software.
- 1-2 years’ experience leading/supervising others’ a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bilingual speaker (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Must have proficient communications skills both verbal and written.
- Must have proficient math skills.
- Must have proficient analytical skills.
- Must have proficient problem-solving skills.
- Must have computer skills (MS Office) and the ability to operate office equipment.
- Must be able to train, manage and motivate their team.
- Must have excellent people skills and be able to work in a group.

- Must have the ability to meet the goals of productivity and efficiency.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform work while standing the majority of their shift.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends, Holidays, and off-shifts as needed.
- Must be able to comply with company attendance and punctuality policy.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
- Must be able to comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)
