About the role

Description

The MRI Technologist in this role will primarily provide imaging services to patients in the Feinberg Pavilion and support inpatient care operations.

This is a full-time day shift position scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Schedule:

  • Two (2) 12-hour shifts: 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Two (2) 8-hour shifts: 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Weekend requirement: Every third weekend, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation is required

OR

  • Three (3) 12-hour shifts: 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • With every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
  • Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
  • Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
  • Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
  • Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring (as applicable).
  • Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
  • Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
  • Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging, such as radiation safety, MRI safety, Infection prevention measures safe practices (as applicable to the role) to protect self, patients, visitors and team members
  • Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery
  • Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth
  • Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs
  • Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the MRI process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
  • Performs MRI safety screening, including implant and foreign body evaluation, and ensures appropriate clearance prior to exposure to the magnetic field.
  • Enforces controlled access and safe practices within the MRI environment.
  • Produces diagnostic-quality MRI images using approved protocols and professional standards.
  • Applies professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
  • Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
  • Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening, IV access when required, monitoring, and response to adverse events.
  • Safe Operation of MRI equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
  • Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and Visage, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability, and charging accuracy.
  • Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, certifications, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)  Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) OR American Registry of MRI Technologist (ARMRIT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
