Summary
Our 10-week internship offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for students interested in gaining practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. Each week, you will be exposed to different leaders and aspects of the line of business. You will have the opportunity to complete projects that will help you understand the day-to-day operations of a bank and develop a well-rounded skillset. Additionally, you will have the chance to receive guidance from experienced professionals in the field, participate in meetings, and network with other interns and associates. By the end of the program, you will have gained valuable insights, built a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially set the stage for future career opportunities at FHN Financial.
Work schedule and number of hours worked per week (minimum: 15 – 25 hours) are flexible, within normal business hours.
The Intern will learn and assist with the day-to-day duties of assisting in aiding our clients by gathering data from Bloomberg so we can run time series analysis, linear and non-linear regressions, and compare/contrast investment options in both table and graphic formats including:
- Accessing all relevant fixed income historic information in economics from Bloomberg
- Relevant Price and Spread data of investable securities from Bloomberg
- Charting historical relationships between bond sector types
Overview
This program offers exposure to functional areas within the firm, gaining a holistic understanding of our fixed income business and strategies. Participants will be assessed consistently to ensure proficiency and growth.
Qualifications
- Finance, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and succeed in the financial services industry
- High attention to detail for written analysis and client presentations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and not afraid to ask questions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
Preferred Skills
- Previous internship or work experience in financial services or related fields
- Knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and financial analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Coding skills in Python or similar programming language
