About the Role
As a Senior IT Business Analyst with Matson, this position will work closely with business leaders, senior IT executives and engineers to craft technical solutions to business problems. This position will be particularly crucial in the start-up, requirements, and environment phase, the first three steps in Matson’s system development life cycle. Matson will be both buying and building IT solutions, therefore, this position will initiate the requirement phase in both “build” and “buy” projects. For “build” projects, this position will develop process flow diagrams, functional specifications, use cases, prototypes, and user-acceptance plans and test scripts. For “buy” projects, this position will effectively manage the RFP process through to vendor selection. In either scenario, he/she will play a vital role in project scoping (siz, cose, and business case), and ensure that project scope phases are thoroughly understood and supported access the enterprise.
What you’ll do:
- Lead Business Analysis Efforts: oversee and guide the business analysis activities for projects related to shipping, international trade, booking, billing, and tariff maintenance.
- Stakeholder Management: collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Process Improvement: identify opportunities for process optimization and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Data Analysis: analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and support decision-making processes.
- Documentation: create detailed business requirement documents, process flows, and functional specifications.
- Compliance and Regulations: ensure all business processes comply with relevant international trade regulations and shipping industry standards.
- Training and Mentorship: provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and team members.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum eight to ten years of experience in business analysis within the shipping domain, with a focus on international trade, booking, billing, and tariff maintenance.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and shipping industry standards.
