Lutheran Hospital’s 5D Unit cares for a variety of post-operative patients in the areas of orthopaedics, spine, neurology and bariatrics. Some procedures patients have undergone include total joint replacements, lumbar and/or cervical decompressions, fusions, and laminectomies. This unit also treats general med/surg patients and is capable of telemetry and ongoing cardiac monitoring. The exceptional care from the nursing team on this unit has led to a reputation for quick patient turnover and excellent patient education. As a New Grad Registered Nurse (RN), you will participate in a year-long residency program, customized to fit you, your needs and your pace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with a coach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement, cultivate excellent communication skills and acquire complex nursing skills. Full-time caregivers work a day/night rotation with shifts of 7:00AM – 7:30PM and 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
