Leidos’ Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking a Inventory Allocation Specialist – Production Control to join our team.  The Inventory Allocation Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant management of inventory across projects and production orders. This role is responsible for maintaining system peggings that drive Material Requirements Planning (MRP) results, managing inter-project inventory transfers, and analyzing excess and residual inventory. By working closely with Production Control, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Finance, the Inventory Allocation Specialist ensures that material resources are properly allocated to meet program schedules, contractual requirements, and cost objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage inventory abbreviation peggings in the ERP system to ensure MRP calculates demand and supply correctly across contracts and projects.

  • Oversee manufacturing order requirement peggings, validating that planned and released orders align with program allocations.

  • Support the planning of inter-project inventory transfers, ensuring proper supply and demand reconciliations while coordinating with finance and inventory teams.

  • Perform excess, residual, and slow-moving inventory analysis; provide recommendations for disposition, reallocation, or reduction strategies.

  • Partner with Production Control, Master Scheduling, and Program Teams to ensure material availability aligns with program demand and delivery milestones.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot MRP exceptions related to pegging, allocations, and transfers.

  • Support audits and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate records of allocations and transfers.

  • Develop and maintain procedures and best practices for inventory allocation management.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity in MRP and inventory allocation processes.

Basic Qualifications   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory management, production planning, or materials control within an ERP-driven environment.

  • Strong understanding of MRP logic, inventory pegging, and allocation principles.

  • Strong understanding of indented Bills of Materials structures

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

  • Analytical mindset with strong Excel and data analysis skills.

  • Attention to detail with proven ability to manage complex data relationships.

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with inter-project cost accounting and government contract compliance.

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or similar certification.
