Position Duties
The AVP of Advancement Operations is responsible for managing, facilitating, coordinating, and directing key functions and operational activities for the Office of Advancement as it grows and fulfills its mission. This role will oversee Advancement Services, Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, Campaign Committees, coordinate faculty and staff engagement in philanthropy and engage the Advancement Executive team in continual strategic planning initiatives. This position will provide substantial support to the VP of Advancement through management of the VP’s pipeline of donor and prospect visits, ensuring the VP is prepared for all meetings and events with internal and external stakeholders, and in partnership with the VP, spearhead projects and manage oversight of the Advancement Team’s success and progress towards goals. This position will regularly interface with subsequent committees, Board of Trustees, donors, prospects, and Executive Leadership of Loyola University Maryland on behalf of the VP. This role ensures the success and achievement of Loyola University Maryland’s Advancement goals from a wholistic perspective by facilitating staff meetings, assisting in the development of effective systems for various functional teams and coordinating with the University in Loyola University Maryland Internal Use Only maintaining a focused emphasis on the promotion of a comprehensive culture of philanthropy and implementation of strategic priorities as propelled through the Advancement team.
Advancement Staff Coordination: Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and insights to monitor process improvement, policy and procedure updates, and quality operations. Build and form trusted relationships with each executive leader/peer group within the advancement division to ensure infrastructure, central services, and suite of technology met key objectives for each team’s functions and strategic goals and objectives to advance fundraising, alumni relations, and engagement initiatives. Serve as a liaison between internal/external departments, external committees, and the Advancement Leadership Team. Oversee business intelligence, operations, and integrity processes, providing high-level leadership for systems and services, ensure implementation across team members, and activate reporting and processes across teams to ensure strategic alignment towards Advancement goals and priorities. Identify critical ways to strengthen and connect the department with the fundraising and engagement efforts of the Division.
External Committee Management: Chair the advancement committee providing strategic leadership, direction, priority, and oversight to the committee, ensuring governance and alignment with the university’s mission, objectives, and goals. Facilitate meaningful dialogue and engagement, guide the decision-making process based on metrics/insights, and encourage collaboration amongst members and other stakeholders. Develop best practices for training and development that will be implemented with Advancement team members. Assess effectiveness through periodic review of goals and key performance indicators and develop strategy for connections and engagement activities. Provide guidance and mentorship to future leaders that serve on the committee. Ensure documents are record kept according to university standards and key stakeholders are informed on meeting outcomes. Act as a liaison between the committee and the university’s executive leadership, board of directors as assigned by the VP of Advancement, and other stakeholders.
Oversee Advancement Services Department: Create and develop the vision and strategy planning for the advancement services department to align with the overall strategic plan of the division and university. Responsible for ensuring the strategic operations and initiatives of the advancement services department are attained. Ensure effective and efficient operation and cooperation between all advancement team members, delivering exceptional customer service.
