As a Data Scientist Vice President you will have to understand data relationships, can design efficient data models, and take initiative and ownership of data driven tasks. Additionally, you will understand the data model within the context of the technical environment and will design a model to leverage the strengths of the technical environment. Additionally, it would be ideal if the Data Scientist has in depth understanding of the mortgage industry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product and Data Owners, Technology and Design Partners to advance integrity and capabilities of Home Lending data-ecosystem.
- Understand and translate business needs into tangible, technical tasks to support long-term strategic objectives.
- End-to-end curation, management, and go-to-market strategy of Data Products to best serve client needs.
- Manage and execute the full product development lifecycle to develop and bring to market, unique value-added proprietary content derived from J.P. Morgan and/or third-party sources.
- Provide oversight and track initiatives to completion, clearly articulate progress, and risks to Stakeholders.
- Develop extensive subject matter expertise by working closely alongside Line of Business staff while developing data products to be able to provide high-value-added customer support and resolve customer inquiries related to underlying data.
- Collaborate with team members, both to build out specific projects and to continuously teach and learn new technology and techniques.
- Perform data discovery work to manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources to help develop various types of data-driven Home Lending products/initiatives.
- Provide recommendations on suitable data solutions, structures and / or processes in clear, concise terms to both technical development teams and non-technical Stakeholders.
- Curious and able to work independently, with minimal supervision but high accountability and drive for results.
Required qualifications, skills and capabilities:
- Adept at explaining and converting complex concepts into digestible information to be consumed by audiences of varying levels of expertise.
- Concepts of Data Engineering – Data warehousing, Indexing, ETL, Dimensions and Schemas
- Good understand of data structures, SQL, DDL and DML
- Knowledge of data manipulation tools / languages like Alteryx, SAS, Python.
- Experience working with one or more of Hadoop, Teradata, Oracle, Microsoft SQL DBs and beginner/intermediate knowledge of AWS cloud solutions (S3, RDS, Athena, Aurora).
- Experience with reporting technologies like AWS Redshift, Tableau, SSRS, PowerBI is a plus.
- Must possess willingness and ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge on a continuous basis.
- Comfortable with Agile methodology and / or similar Project Development Methodologies, project management techniques and practices.
- Must have ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics / Statistics, or Economics. 5+ years in data and analytics, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- 3+ years mortgage experience preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Machine Learning Models is preferred.
- Experience in Mortgage Banking or working with CRM data.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud resources
- Comfortable writing product technical specifications for product development
- Solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of financial instruments and formulate appropriate conclusions.
- Comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical audiences through written and verbal communication.
