Position Summary

The E&I Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for trouble-shooting and repairs of the mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the site to insure minimal disruption to the production process. This department is scheduled to provide services to production and research areas 7 days a week generally on 8 hour shifts but up to 12 hrs on occasion.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out routine preventative maintenance calibrations and inspections to insure minimal disruption to the production process
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the site
• Sets up, replace, and install process instrumentation with minimal supervision
• Provide insight and feedback from assigned work
• Complete equipment history information files to document technical issues
• Document mechanical or electrical problems that may disrupt the production process
• Communicate with process operators and productions shift supervisors on equipment status
• Utilize time to keep up routine cleaning of your work area consistent with CP Kelco’s cGMP Policy.
• Proper use of Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) conforming to cGMP standards
• Demonstrate effective teamwork behavior, promotion of process efficiency, and effectively communicate safety and procedural issues with coworkers and supervisor. Punctuality, good attendance, and the ability to adjust to a variety of assignments.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, motor controls, field instrumentation, control loops, and transmitters
• Working knowledge of regulatory and industry standards of electrical equipment
• Ability to complete general maintenance work in the instrumentation, control, and electrical areas
• Minimum 7 years prior employment experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Manufacturing and food industry experience
• Ability to understand Input and Output addressing in Logic Controllers.

• Read and understand electrical schematic drawings, instrument loop diagrams and P&ID’s
• Good knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SAP, PI and CADD
• Possesses mathematics and English language reading skills for technical publications and general instructions
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid CA driver’s license
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of employees in a manufacturing facility
• Exceptional verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills 

• Completion of electrician apprenticeship
• ISA or CWEA certification
• AS degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Desired Educational and Work Experience

Requires high school diploma or equivalent required,
Post-secondary education/certification in some mechanical field and an AA degree highly desirable.
Prior employment experience in a manufacturing, building maintenance, or engineering environment of at least 5 years required.
At least 3 years prior experience with cement work, carpentry, minor plumbing, and repairing of building maintenance.
CGMP experience / training.
