The Data and Content team is focused on providing learning data that enables our customers to improve educational outcomes for their students. This role will be responsible for delivering business intelligence analysis and reports to our business and technology stakeholders

About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer for Elsevier’s Nursing, Health, and Education Data Team you'll be leading a global team that have focus on Java Software Development. We have a technical expertise, unified, technical expertise, and quality first approach.

Responsibilities

• Being part of an Agile, XP, and Test-Driven Development
• Designing, prototyping, and implementing robust big-data streaming applications using best-practice agile development processes
• Working with cutting-edge technologies such as Java and Go, streaming frameworks such as Kafka and Spark
• Building cloud infrastructure in AWS to host and monitor the applications, automating common tasks mercilessly

Requirements

• Experience in programming skills on the JVM, with experience of building microservices or distributed systems with either Java, or Scala
• Experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure as code
• Experience with working on a mixed-discipline team, where Cloud Infrastructure specialists and Developers work side-by-side
• Experience of or willingness to work as part of a collaborative DevOps enabled team
