The Opportunity
As a Global Logistics Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of international trade, supporting domestic and international trade activities and ensuring compliant delivery of materials worldwide. Your role will involve navigating complex regulations to ensure compliance, while executing logistics functions with precision and efficiency. You’ll be the linchpin in a dynamic environment, ensuring that every shipment reaches its destination on time and in perfect order. This permanent position will report to the Global Logistics Manager and duties include but are not limited to the following; 

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize various shipping methods (FCL, LCL, FTL, LTL, air, intermodal, rail, ocean) to maximize service and cost.
  • Ensure international shipments meet all regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Hold carriers and freight forwarders accountable for agreed pricing and service standards.
  • Execute timely and accurate delivery of goods and documents.
  • Understand and stay informed on complex federal import/export laws and regulations, including U.S. Customs, FDA regulations, HTS, EAR, and product classification.
  • Develop and publish manuals related to import and export requirements; review and address complex legal regulatory documents.
  • Communicate, train, and collaborate with sales, customer service, quality, third-party service providers, and colleagues on trade issues and policies.
  • Lead meetings and serve as a liaison between internal customers and external logistics providers to achieve international trade compliance and efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs Management, International Studies, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with freight management and international compliance regulations.
  • Strong customer service, customer development, or business development experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly SAP, and advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, and handling various concrete variables.
  • Capability to generate accurate trade documents and review their accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication.
