Summary

Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking a pediatrician to work as-needed to provide direct care in its Community Health Services clinic at Eastgate Public Health.

Examples of duties

  • Diagnose and provide medical treatment to clients.
  • Educate and counsel clients on a broad scope of personal and health care issues.
  • Provide medical triage and patient care evaluation.
  • Provide technical consultation to nursing staff for assigned work location.
  • Document clinical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals, and consultations.
  • Perform minor procedures and other duties as assigned within position's scope.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision of resident and fellow physicians.

Qualifications

Required:
  • WA State Medical License must be obtained prior to hiring. 
  • A National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained prior to hiring. 
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained prior to hiring. 
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program. 
  • Must be board certified or board eligible. Individuals who are board certified in Family Medicine or in Pediatric Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, residents and other providers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Experience in managing chronic diseases and working with vulnerable patients with history of homelessness, behavioral health conditions, incarceration and substance use.
  • Knowledge of outpatient care, including medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and health service delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of medical records documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in problem solving and triage decisions.
Desired:
  • Ability to be assigned 2+ shifts per month (we recognize that this may vary month to month).
  • Strong clinical experience in pediatric primary care medicine and comprehensive knowledge in managing vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to occasionally precept resident physicians in Pediatrics.
  • Experience providing medication treatment for opioid use disorder in low barrier outpatient setting, including use of long-acting injectable buprenorphine.
