Job Description Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer in this role is an individual contributor with deep expertise in electrical and electro-mechanical systems focused on sustaining BD’s existing flagship Infusion Pumps and Medication Cabinets.This is an exciting role that will require both your strong technical and leadership skills to effectively work with your peers and leadership across functional groups, global CM partners and suppliers that will challenge you to organize and measure the best of your energies and skills.
In addition to leading engineering projects of varying complexities, you will provide product lifecyle management support in finding solutions to component and peripherals’ obsolence, conduct failure investigations and resolve issues as they come up from operations, customer base, and supplier.

Job Summary
Designs, develops, tests, documents, and maintains electrical components of medical devices. Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, AAMI).
Responsibilities
Analyzes needs and determines functional requirements for the design of electronic components.
Conducts research on the feasibility of applying new technologies to existing systems or developing new products.
Develops technical specifications for materials, components, equipment, software, processes, or systems used in the development of medical device products.
Creates and reviews engineering drawings, schematics, parts lists, and other documentation related to the assembly of medical device products.
Maintains records of designs developed by others and selects components based on cost, reliability, and performance criteria.
Conducts experimental tests on prototypes and prepares reports summarizing test results.
Reviews testing methods, analyzes test data, and recommends changes to improve testing procedures and product performance.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure that medical device products meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.
May supervise junior engineers, review their work, and provide guidance on complex projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. Master’s preferred.
Minimum 3 years in medical device industry, preferably in the fields of hardware, electronics, or software design.
Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Altium, or OrCAD.
Knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation, component specification, and tolerance analysis.
Understanding of electrical principles, including AC/DC circuits, analog/digital signals, and control theory.
Ability to read and understand schematics, circuit diagrams, and wiring schematics.
Familiarity with microcontroller architectures, such as ARM Cortex-M processors, FPGAs, sensors, actuators, power supplies, and communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet.
Expertise in PCB layout and routing techniques, including impedance matching, signal integrity, and ground plane optimization.
Proficiency in various programming languages, such as C, C++, Python, Matlab, Simulink, or Visual Basic .NET.
Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Waterfall, and V-model.
Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex electronic systems, including use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
