Position Specific Summary
The Aquatic Maintenance Coordinator position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, installation, and repair of the aquatic facility and splash pad, and fountain equipment, ensuring functionality meets all required quality standards to maximize operating time and customer satisfaction.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Aquatics Maintenance Supervisor. This position exercises supervision over Trades Specialists and Pump Mechanics.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs daily testing and treatment of public pool water to maintain balanced pool water quality, proper chlorine, and pH balancing, and monitoring total dissolved solids. Monitors chemical usage and keeps records of supplies and test readings.
- Performs mechanical inspections and minor electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry repairs. Inspects and assesses aquatic and splash pad facilities to maintain quality and safety, and implements appropriate methods to address facility needs.
- Makes recommendations regarding, and implements long- and short-range planning regarding ongoing maintenance, improvement, and usage of the aquatic facility.
- Prepares inventory of supplies, equipment, and chemicals needed. Coordinates with staff to order materials and supplies from contract vendors.
- Writes equipment bids, reports, and safety and operating protocols.
- Supervises and coaches employees in performing tasks, schedules work, performs performance reviews, and participates in the recruitment and discipline of employees.
- Assists with the setup and storage of the facility, equipment, and supplies.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environments.
The nature of work is not routine and is expected to be flexible on timelines and priorities.
