QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least (2) years of experience in institutional food service management.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

 
 
JOB GOAL
 
The Head Cook is responsible for the uninterrupted and efficient preparation of meals, ensuring standards of effectiveness, efficiency, sanitation and safety, consistent with the personnel and resources available.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 

  • Formulates cooking schedule to meet production needs.
  • Prepares quality meals daily, special function meals, and catering from standardized recipes in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Follows local, state and federal guidelines for food production, handling and sanitation.
  • Follows local, state and federal guidelines for safety standards and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining and recording food temperatures, food prepared and unserved food.
  • Stocks the serving line and assists in serving meals.
  • Assists in the kitchen, where needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or Food Service Director.

  • Compensation as per the SAESP Collective Bargaining Agreement & District guidelines.

 
EVALUATION
 
Performance of the Head Cook will be evaluated annually by the Food Service Director in accordance with District guidelines.  The Food Service Director shall seek input from the Kitchen Supervisor prior to completing the evaluation.
