Job Summary:  

The Manager, Publications will be responsible for engaging internal and external authors to deliver high-quality scientific publications for the Supernus portfolio. Additionally, the Publications Manager will be supporting and interacting with senior internal leaders, external experts and other team members in their publication activities to ensure quality, timeliness and compliance with Industry Good Publication Practice and Supernus requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality publications within agreed timelines and policy requirements.
  • Establish and maintain publication plans for Supernus products under the direction of the Sr. Publication Manager or Sr. Director of Publications.
  • Coordinate the development, editing and submission of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters and presentations derived from clinical data and core scientific messages, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders on these materials.
  • Coordinate and maintain project timelines (with assistance from medical writers).
  • Ensure that all materials undergo required reviews and sign- off.
  • Maintain archiving of approved materials and documentation of author participation and other audit records.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and external requirements (e.g., journal policies, Good Publication Practices), including working with authors, scientific contributors, external contracted medical writers/vendors to ensure that publications are accurate, balanced, and timely.
  • Manage publication vendors and budgets; hold vendor accountable to pre-defined time, cost, and quality deliverables.
  • Assist Sr. Manager and/or Director and Medical Affairs Department in maintaining publications contracts and budgets.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging publication trends and industry Good Publication Practices (GPP) and assist the Director in maintaining publication SOPs and training collaborators on these practices.
  • Maintain expertise in therapeutic area and provide scientific and editorial support to promotional and medical review committees as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No current direct reports.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:

  • Higher level degree (MS, PhD or PharmD) in science, pharmacy, or other allied health field, medical communications, or related subject.
  • PhD or PharmD at least 0+ years relevant experience or will consider a relevant MS with at least 4+ years relevant experience and this experience should include a minimum of 2 years’ experience in scientific. communications and/or medical affairs with an external scientific engagement focus; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Training and experience in CNS disorders, psychopharmacology and/or neuropharmacology strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current publication and authorship guidelines and their practical implementation (GPP3, ICMJE, CONSORT, etc.)
  • Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credential preferred.
  • Experience leading and working with teams of co-authors.
  • Experience developing, editing, and submitting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed medical journals and abstracts to medical congresses.
  • Ability to understand and communicate data from a variety of scientific disciplines.
  • Strong and continual focus on scientific integrity and ethics and comfortable escalating and challenging digressions from company policy or values when necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical databases, clinical data interpretation, and application of HIPPA and GxP as it relates to ethical guidelines for data collection and publication.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Smartsheet or Publication Project Management software, and Excel.
