Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.

 

Role purpose:

 

The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Collaborate with architects and developers to design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions based on business requirements.
• Deploy and configure cloud services and resources, including compute, storage, networking, and security components.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for complex cloud infrastructure issues, and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
• Implement and maintain cloud security controls, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
• Drive initiatives to optimize cloud costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance performance and reliability of cloud-based systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for cloud architecture and operations.
• Mentor and coach junior cloud engineers, providing guidance and support in cloud architecture, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

 

Requirements:

 

• 5+ years of experience with public, private, and hybrid cloud services planning and operation
• Experience in a multinational IT environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a equivalent technical experience
• Fluency in English
• Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, public private, hybrid
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep or Azure Resource Manager.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools (Bamboo, VSTS, TeamCity)
