This role is part of Production Test, a diverse and hardworking team of specialists where you will be responsible for interfacing with IT, data, and communications departments to maintain and expand the testing infrastructure. This is a hands-on position focused on supporting critical IT equipment, ensuring Production Test needs receive prompt and effective technology support necessary for getting Blue Origin’s hardware safely tested prior to launch. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of vehicle and ground systems testing for mechanical/fluids, electrical, propulsion systems, or structural testing in preparation for a safe launch. This role will be interfacing with multiple departments, coordinating with test crews, managing ground support equipment while establishing data, storage, and video configurations for testing throughout vehicle production.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide front line support for computer and communications systems
    • Must be customer focused, work well under pressure and be able to decipher common IT issues
  • Deploy, support and maintain test critical IT hardware, including workstations, and other command/control assets for Production Test
  • Identify sources of system degradation and mitigate, or provide detailed relevant data such as pcaps, quantitative data, and logs to network engineers for further triage
  • Generate and modify user accounts through standardized identity management tools (Active Directory)
  • Inventory management, including maintaining internal asset tracking tools, spares procurement, physical restocking, and deployment
  • Maintain network monitoring and administration tools
  • Occasional travel to support deployed ground systems infrastructure across the country

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder).
  • 3 years of desktop support or NOC experience.
  • Practical knowledge and experience with standard network protocols (DHCP, DNS, NPS, SQL, SMTP, NFS, etc).
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated structures.
  • Ability to lift and install heavy server and communications equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience operating and maintaining AV systems.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux command line interface.
  • Experience troubleshooting data, storage, and audio/video networks and associated hardware.
  • Prior experience utilizing IT support documentation and workflow automation tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, Remedy, SalesForce).
  • Ability to read and develop network diagrams/schematics for existing and future systems.
  • Ability to support periodic overtime and overnight operations for test campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing, integration, and test.
  • Knowledge of industrial control system and managed network switches.
  • Experience with simple scripting in Powershell, bash, VBA, python, etc.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Netbox, Puppet, SCCM, Chef, GitLab, Solarwinds NCM, etc.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Familiarity with developing, writing, and executing test procedures.
