The Senior Wealth Strategist delivers advanced, specialized wealth planning services to High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients. This role collaborates with Relationship Managers and planning professionals to provide holistic advice across financial, tax, estate, trust, philanthropic, and succession planning. The position is instrumental in strengthening client relationships, consolidating assets, and driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver customized, comprehensive wealth planning solutions to HNW/UHNW clients.
- Partner with Private Bankers, Investment Counsellors, and Advisors to support client strategy.
- Lead goals-based discovery sessions and ensure high standards for data capture and plan creation.
- Act as a subject matter expert in specialized planning areas, including regulatory and policy guidance.
- Provide insights on emerging trends, legislation, and advanced planning strategies.
- Develop and present educational content for internal and client-facing use.
- Consult with clients and their external advisors on complex financial issues.
- Build and maintain internal and external networks to support business growth.
- Ensure compliance with all banking, investment, legal, and ethical standards.
- Operate as a strategic resource across the enterprise, contributing to senior-level initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5–9 years of relevant experience in wealth planning, private banking, or financial advisory roles, with a proven track record of working with HNW/UHNW clients.
- Education: A university degree in a relevant field is required; a post-graduate degree (e.g., MBA, JD, LL.M., or Master’s in Taxation) is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Professional designations such as CFP®, CPA, TEP, or CLU are considered strong assets.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of wealth planning strategies, including tax optimization, estate structuring, succession planning, and philanthropic giving.
- Broad understanding of financial institutions, investment management principles, and financial markets.
- Proficiency in financial planning software and tools.
- Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong influence and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional environments.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and apply data-driven decision-making.
- Experience developing and delivering training or thought leadership content is a plus.
Salary:
$112,200.00 - $209,000.00Pay Type:
SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
