The Dell Medical School is seeking a Psychometrist / Research Assistant.
Job Summary
The Psychometrist / Research Assistant is responsible for administering and scoring standardized psychological and neuropsychological assessments under the supervision of a licensed neuropsychologist. This role supports clinical evaluations of patients with neurological and cognitive disorders and contributes to ongoing research studies by assisting with participant recruitment, data collection, and study coordination. The position works closely with neuropsychologists, neurologists, clinical coordinators, and research investigators. Peer roles include Clinical Research Coordinator, Behavioral Health Technician, and Psychology Technician. This dual-role position ensures high-quality data collection and supports both clinical care and research excellence in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment.
Essential Functions
Administers Neuropsychological Assessments
Administers standardized cognitive, academic, behavioral, and emotional assessments
Scores tests and records behavioral observations during testing sessions
Adjusts testing procedures to accommodate patient needs and limitations
Ensures testing protocols are followed and data integrity is maintained
Prepares test materials and maintains testing environment
Supports Clinical Documentation and Reporting
Enters test scores and behavioral data into electronic health records
Drafts preliminary reports for review by supervising neuropsychologist
Maintains accurate and confidential patient records
Assists in the preparation of clinical summaries and documentation
Tracks patient testing schedules and follow-up needs
Assists with Research Study Execution
Recruits and screens potential research participants
Obtains informed consent and explains study procedures
Collects and enters research data in compliance with protocols
Coordinates study visits and communicates with investigators
Maintains study documentation and regulatory compliance
Collaborates with Clinical and Research Teams
Communicates assessment findings to healthcare team members
Participates in interdisciplinary case discussions and research meetings
Provides feedback on testing procedures and study logistics
Supports training of interns or junior staff as needed
Coordinates with external partners and sponsors as required
Maintains Equipment and Supplies
Inventories and orders psychological testing materials
Calibrates and maintains testing equipment
Ensures secure storage of sensitive data and materials
Follows safety and infection control protocols
Assists with setup and breakdown of testing and research spaces
Marginal or Periodic Functions
Participates in continuing education and professional development activities
Assists with grant applications and literature reviews
Supports quality improvement initiatives in clinical or research workflows
Attends conferences or community outreach events
Provides backup coverage for other research or clinical support roles
