Description: We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant School Security Guard to join our committed team of professionals. As a Security Guard, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for monitoring buildings and grounds, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and responding promptly and appropriately to situations that may arise throughout the school day.

Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure safety of students
- Assist Principal in identifying problems related to building and grounds security
- Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Maintain district buildings and grounds surveillance during prescribed hours to ensure security
- Monitor individual's presence on grounds and provide surveillance to discourage vandalism
- Promote good social relationships between students
- Check window conditions to note steam or other indicators of problems
- Check for evidence of water seeping from ground floor doorways and other indicators of a water line break
- Check for lights in the building other that the normal security beams and other indicators of entry
- Take reasonable precautions to protect personnel, equipment, materials and facilities
- Monitor and supervise students
- Interact with classroom teachers and administrators
- Assist in upholding and enforcing administrative regulations and Board policy
- Report acts of vandalism, potential maintenance problems, and indicators of illegal entry, suspicious trespassers, or other potential problems to the following individuals (sequential order of contact depending on nature of situation): Building Principal, Building Custodian, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Police, Fire Department, available Administrator
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others
- Project a positive public relations image for the district
- Complies with the concepts outline in Board policies, and administrative instructions issued within the framework of assigned responsibilities
- Alters surveillance patterns frequently to increase effective presence
- Makes a minimum of two (2) surveillance checks on all buildings and grounds within the allotted time during an assigned shift
- Maintain a daily log reflecting the following: start/end odometer readings; building surveillance times; and unusual observations
- Must be willing to flex time as needed for high profile district after school and night events
- Provide security coverage and support at school and district community events during assigned hours, including after-school and evening events as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned by the building principal or designee
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with supervision of restroom breaks/lunch
- Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
- Serve as a role model for students
Qualifications:
- One year related experience
- Appropriate licensing and driving record to safely operate a district vehicle while fulfilling the responsibilities of the position
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Basic training in first aid and CPR
