NAVAIR Avionics Software Subject Matter Expert

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of avionics software familiar with Military Standard 1553 (MIL-STD-1553) and ARINC-429 to join our team! In this role, you will provide recommendations on avionics, embedded coding languages, and Ethernet or Serial communication protocols to an Integrated Product Team for program requirements and objectives. This role requires 100% on-site presence at the NAVAIR Base in Pax River, MD. 

Clearance

A Top Secret Clearanc is required for this position (Interim TS will be considered) . Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements

• Must be knowledgeable of MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC-429
• Must have at least 5 years software engineering experience, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration and/or testing
• Must have at least 3 years software engineering experience for DoD aircraft or weapon systems

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to IPT members in support of software and hardware development
• Identify risks and issues to development efforts
• Interface with the Software Support Activity (SSA) to provide technical guidance and recommendations regarding software and process sustainment efforts
• Interface with the Common Control System (CSS) to provide technical guidance and recommendations for Mission Communication System (MCS) software acquisition
• Prepare documentation for technical specifications, formal recommendations, investigations, analyses, evidence supporting Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) Product Test Verifications, and more

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college program

Compensation

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

 

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $160,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
