Contract FSSC/Food Safety Auditor

Bureau Veritas Certification North America (BVCNA) is looking to add individuals to their team who can conduct FSSC certification audits within the food manufacturing, packaging manufacturing, and storage & distribution sectors.  The focus will be for these audits to be done to the applicable FSSC Standard; however other audits to different GFSI (SQF and BRCGS), certification (ISO 22000, FAMI-QS, etc.) or unaccredited audit programs may present themselves. 

 
Job Duties 
• Conduct audits according to FSSC and Bureau Veritas Certification North America Standards 
• Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of work and adhere to all procedures established by clients and BVCNA 
• Assure rigorous and thorough evaluations are conducted at facilities and detailed audit reports are provided in a timely manner to allow for certification decisions to be made 
• Follow and adhere with all required protocols and procedures 
• Maintain good time management as it pertains to scheduling and communication with representatives from client sites and BVCNA 
• Ensure that up to date and accurate scheduling information is provided to BVCNA on a regular basis 
• Ensure that all qualifications are maintained as required by FSSC and BVCNA; as well as provide BVCNA with any requested documentation that pertains to qualifications in a timely manner 
• Be professional, respectful, and conscientious in all communications with BVCNA representatives and clients 

 
Qualifications 
• Have a degree in a food-related or bioscience discipline 
• 2+ years’ experience within the food industry related to quality assurance or food safety. 
• Audit experience at or above 5 food safety related audits in the past 2 years 
• FSSC Lead Auditor Training (minimum 40 hours) and Exam completion 
• ISO 22000 Standard Training (current version, minimum 8 hours) and Exam completion 
• Food Defense Training (minimum 2 hours) and Exam completion 
• Food Fraud Training (minimum 2 hours) and Exam completion 

• FSSC 22000 Scheme requirements (parts 1 – 4 and annexes 1, 2 and 5) 
• Training in accreditation requirements (ISO 22003-1:2022 and ISO/IEC 17021-1) 

• Training in the relevant PRP standard (minimum 3 hours per PRP standard)
