The Specialist CND Food Purchasing serves as a liaison between the Child Nutrition Department (CND), vendors, campus managers, federal and state agencies, employees and various other departments within the district. Employee performs high level business, technology, software functions, and practices required for effective and efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Department. Assistance is provided in procurement maintenance functions. Creative and innovative ideas on training, orientation, time management and work simplification are under constant research.

Job OverviewThe Specialist CND Food Purchasing serves as a liaison between the Child Nutrition Department (CND), vendors, campus managers, federal and state agencies, employees and various other departments within the district. Employee performs high level business, technology, software functions, and practices required for effective and efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Department. Assistance is provided in procurement maintenance functions. Creative and innovative ideas on training, orientation, time management and work simplification are under constant research.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the CND Assistant Director of Nutrition with maintaining comprehensive reports and records
- Provides internal and external support for CND, Supervisors, Managers, and Employees including food purchasing issues
- Verifies, produces and maintains vendor lists, pricing, bids, quotes, menus, production records, grocery orders, and other duties related to purchasing
- Monitors and maintains health inspections records for compliance
- Maintains a working knowledge of the web-based softwares including trouble shooting, testing, and upgrades while providing support when needed
- Adheres to Federal, State and Local regulations regarding procurement of all products for CND
- Communicates clearly and professionally with Managers, Directors, administrators, students, parents, vendors and other professional contacts
- Regularly communicates with vendors to ensure that all products are delivered in a timely manner, including online orders, order changes, truck ETAs, short/missing products, etc.
- Verifies and exports all food and non-food online orders
- Enters and verifies monthly commodities orders and prepares monthly USDA Foods inventory and distribution reports
- Coordinates and distributes menus, forms and other necessary documents
- Collaborates on menu promotions including Harvest of the Month, LTOs, taste tests, and other special events
- Participates in professional development activities as an active member of local, state, and national organizations
- Maintains all Records Management and Records Retention duties as assigned
- Performs any and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED Required
- Associate's degree Preferred
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of word, excel, power point, web-based software and other office software
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in business office procedures, practices and use of office equipment
- Ability to perform managerial tasks to maintain data and generate relatively complex reports from data collection
- Comprehensive knowledge regarding business processes with emphasis on district local, county, state and federal regulations and reporting requirements including record retention
- Strong organizational skills with extremely proficient communication skills both written and verbal
- Knowledge and experience in school food service functions, preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, preferred
