Project Overview:

The Bechtel renewables team will perform project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup for utility-scale photovoltaic generating plants throughout various locations in the US.
Location:
This position will start in Victoria, TX on a short-term assignment. In addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge, the ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to relocate to project sites throughout the US.
Position Summary:
The Survey Field Engineer (SFE) is responsible for providing survey and machine control support to the Project Field Engineer (PFE), Superintendents, craft, and others, as assigned. The SFE reports directly to PFE for daily scheduled work priorities, coordination between other disciplines and assigned specific tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Promote safe work behaviors and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) policies.
- Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities, Industry Best Practices
- Provide construction survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision
- Coordinate with superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
- Establish and/or verify and maintain the project's survey control network
- Setup and calibrate machine control for on-site construction equipment
- Troubleshoot machine control when issues arise
- Oversee/perform weekly drone mapping flights
- Stakeout locations for cable trenching
- Collect as-builts on electrical underground
- Perform quality checks/pile as-builts as needed
- Work closely with automation team to provide support as needed
- Completion of quality documentation in automation tool through construction and system turnover.
- Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
- Able to work independently, with minimal supervision and wide latitude for judgement.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Networks and connects with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Level 1:
- Engineering/Technical degree and 6 years’ experience in surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments, software, and technology; with at least 5 years’ supervisorial experience or 12 years’ experience (in lieu of a degree), with at least 5 years’ supervisorial experience
Level 2:
- Engineering/Technical degree and 9 years’ experience in surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments, software, and technology; wit
