Position Summary:

AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Lockport, LA that is the leading provider of quality construction, manufacturing, engineering, repair, and conversion products and services to the marine industry.

A 1st Class Outside Machinist is responsible for installing, aligning, and maintaining shipboard machinery and mechanical systems using blueprints, precision tools, and hand tools in a shipyard environment.

Essential Functions:

• Install vessel machinery through the use of blueprints and hand tools
• Read and interpret standard construction drawings, specifications, and other technical publications
• Apply knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants
• Familiarize with all aspects of craft-specific marine construction from design through installation and operational testing
• Perform tasks related to air controls and tubing bending
• Conduct operational testing of installed systems

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of marine experience or 1 years of continuous Company experience
• Good working knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants
• Knowledge of how to use necessary tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, torch, etc.)
• Some experience or background in welding
