Christiana Hospital is currently recruiting Registered Nurses to be trained to work on the CVOR (Open Heart) team. This role requires an Orientation, in which we will provide a 24-26 week paid OR Fellowship program that includes rotations in all surgical specialties and perioperative didactic courses that will culminate in inadequate preparation to function independently as an OR RN.
The Cardiovascular Operating Room Fellowship starts on April 28, 2025.
The selected RN will be an upbeat Cardiac Operating Room Registered Nurse Intern who wants to be a part of a growing operating room team passionate about providing excellent clinical outcomes through caring service to our patients and their families.
This position shift is predominately a Day shift and Monday-Friday but will require flexibility to work the Mid shifts and take Open Heart Calls, as required
Our Cardiac Program:
The cardiovascular surgeons at the Center for Heart & Vascular Health at Christiana Hospital are among the most experienced open-heart surgery teams in the mid-Atlantic today. We provide a complete range of sophisticated cardiothoracic surgical services for the treatment of:
Atherosclerosis (blocked arteries).
Coronary artery disease treatment.
Valves requiring repair and replacement.
Congenital heart ailments (those present from birth).
Each year, our expert cardiac surgery team performs almost 600 open-heart surgeries at the Center for Heart & Vascular Health, and we are setting ourselves up to increase our total cases in the year 2023.
We manage 3 OR suites for our cardiac program daily and support our interventional partners with hybrid cases when needed. With a team of 5 surgeons, private PA support, scrub technologists, and circulating nurses, we care for many patients needing cases from a basic CABG (CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFT), Valve Replacement and Repair, and TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair), to an all-night dissection
REQUIREMENTS:
•BSN preferred or Dedication to acquiring within three years of the date of hire can be considered with proven experience.
•Current RN licensure required
•BLS required
