About you and this role

Aligned to the Technical Expertise & Support Quality Expertise Center (TES QEC), the Regional Inspection Lead will interface with Project Teams, Leaders, Engineers, Technologists, Subject Matter Experts (SME), Global Capital Procurement (GCP) Sourcing Specialists and Expeditors, outsourced Inspection Agencies and equipment Suppliers.  The Regional Inspection Lead will follow and champion the TES QEC Global Shop Inspection, Quality, and Global Project Methodology, and Maintenance work processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides regional support and serves as Shop Inspection Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Region
  • Responsible for oversight of Outsourced Inspection Agencies / Inspectors executing the inspection process per P.O. specifications, Inspection Commercial Agreement, and/or Dow Inspection specifications for all commodities
  • Work effectively with a diverse cross functional organization (Purchasing, Technical SME’s, etc.) to maximize team effectiveness and satisfaction. Build effective relationships and communicate with individuals and teams across the globe and at various levels in the organization
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in inspection discipline and ensures effective implementation of Inspection work process in respective region
  • Review Inspection Requests and identify / assign qualified Inspectors in alignment with Global Inspection sourcing strategy
  • Assist purchase order technical contact and SME with inspection test plan development / review for critical equipment
  • Perform on-site Supplier audits as needed
  • Participate in Pre-Inspection Meetings and personally conduct shop inspections for critical items 
  • Review Inspection Reports and work with purchase order technical contact, discipline SME, and expediter to resolve any NCR’s (Non-Conformances) and/or technical issues
  • Train and guide others on Inspection and fabrication related MET (Most Effective Technology)
  • Supports developing and maintaining Inspection MET (Most Effective Technology)

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree OR 7 years of relevant experience OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with vendor surveillance inspection activities in the chemical, refinery, powerplant, gas, oil and other related industrial fields
  • This role requires intensive travel (approximately 25-40%)
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials

Preferred Skills

  • Holds the following certifications or willing to acquire them on a short term: AWS CWI, AWS CRI
  • Additional certifications: API-510, API-570, API-653
  • Well-versed in Project Execution Methodologies
  • Well-versed in NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) methods and NDE procedure review / utilization
  • Experience with metallic welded fabrication of PCE (Process Containment Equipment) and piping to the applicable design Codes (ASME BPVC II, V, VIII-1, IX, B31.3, API 661, TEMA, etc.)
  • Experience with rotating and/or major electrical equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal, influential and communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
