About the role

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance - Stays current on external regulatory requirements, serves as organizational expert to ensure compliance and is the key contact with regulatory agencies. Responsible to keep CCHMC entities informed of new standards, regulatory changes and grant opportunities. Gathers and disseminates emergency preparedness information to leaders, mgrs., and staff. Maintain inventory of disaster supplies and equipment. Assist depts. and divisions with development, evaluation and review of disaster mgmt. plans (response, disaster, action, evacuation, etc.). Evaluates and works with depts. and divisions to promote consistency in plans and to prepare for accreditation surveys and evaluations. Coordinate all disaster related grants and surveys. Serves on committees as needed to support disaster preparedness and management. Assists with the development and functioning of hospital emergency operation centers and the communication links between them. Identifies processes to maximize recovery and minimize costs of a disaster. Identify best practices as well as deficiencies to share with peers and make recommendations for improvement. Enhance relationships to promote interdisciplinary involvement and knowledge of compliance standards, status, and actions. Track laws, regulations and standards that may affect practice and policies.

  • Operations - Direct, establish and monitor business processes to ensure effective and efficient operations; develop and interpret policies and procedures for faculty and staff; and ensure that all policies are in conformance with Medical Center guidelines.

  • Planning and Management - Responsible to keep CCHMC entities informed of standards and regulatory changes. Gathers and disseminates disaster related information to appropriate CCHMC managers and administrators. Maintain inventory of CCHMC disaster supplies and equipment Assist CCHMC departments and divisions with development, evaluation and review of disaster management plans (response plans, disaster plans, action plans, evacuation plans, etc.). Evaluates and works with departments and divisions to promote consistency in plans.

  • Training and Education - Identifies and facilitates appropriate training needs related to disaster management. Helps to design, document, evaluate and administer disaster exercises to meet JCAHO requirements for CCHMC. Provides certified disaster related training courses. Teaches classes on appropriate disaster topics.

  • Community Engagement - Serves as a CCHMC representative on community disaster preparedness and response committees and at community events. Coordinates disaster related grant applications, surveys, etc. Works with area hospitals and vendors to establish service contracts between them and CCHMC. Coordinates efforts (exercises, drills, training, resources, etc.) with local/regional emergency agencies (city, county, state, federal). Presents a positive image of CCHMC.

Collaborates with senior leadership to achieve long-term and short-term business continuation and recovery plans in alignment with CCHMC Strategic Plan. Engages with leadership to provide consulting related to disaster planning . Is an organizational advocate and leader, facilitating awareness and readiness.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Preferred: Master's degree or Doctorate

  • 5+ years of work experience in a related job discipline including leadership of others
