Overview
This position works at USU Eastern in Price, Utah. This position functions as the Director of Dining and Event Services at USU Eastern (Manager I). They plan, direct, and oversee all the operations, procedures, and serve as the fiscal manager of Dining and Event Services at USU Eastern. They oversee and lead the work of a team of employees representing both Dining and Events on the Eastern campus.
Responsibilities
- Departmental Supervision and Leadership:
- Sets customer service standards and expectations for the department.
- Represents the department at Tier II Huddle Boards meetings.
- Conducts Tier I Huddle Board meetings for Dining and Event Services
- Establishes the goals, objectives, and metrics for the department.
- Oversees the collection of relevant data and appropriate reporting of this information for the department.
- Acts as hiring manager for departmental staff.
- Provides performance reviews, supervision, training, and accountability measures for professional staff.
- Provides oversight for all scheduling needs for the department.
- Coordinates and communicates with relevant departments on campus.
- Fiscal Management:
- Functions as the fiscal manager for Dining and Event Services and oversees all fiscal aspects for this auxiliary.
- Oversees the contract process for events.
- Oversees the pricing, function, communications of meal plans.
- Salaries and fringe benefits for employees.
- Food and labor costs.
- Catering sales.
- Operational costs
- Room rental rates and administration fees
- Manages and oversees maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of equipment, tables, chairs, linens, etc.
- Reconciles weekly deposits and invoicing.
- Oversees food and beverage contracts.
- Campus Scheduling:
- Communicates, informs, and helps facilitates a connection between the Admissions and Recruitment team and prospective student groups coming to Eastern for events, camps, and other activities to foster recruitment opportunities.
- Oversees, manages, and collaborates with academic scheduling to manage the master schedule and use of campus buildings.
- Oversees and manages the process of booking events, space, and catering for both internal and external groups.
- Coordinates and communicates with Facilitator Supervisor for the use and scheduling of academic classrooms.
- Directs and develops processes and procedures to maximize the use of campus for both internal and external groups.
- Establishes procedures to guide and govern all campus events and scheduling.
- Use, train, manage, and implement the use of the campus scheduling system.
- Caterease:
- Oversees the use, training, and performance of software.
- Oversees the process and procedures of updating and keeping current information in Caterease (menus, templates, contracts, pricing, invoicing, etc.)
- Other:
- Oversees the content of your departmental website, edits, updates, etc.
- Oversees and manage the communication plans, timelines, and procedures for this department.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Oversees the approval process for flyers on campus.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
