Job Summary:

Managing food safety programs and ensuring compliance with FDA/USDA regulations. Overseeing Quality department, updating HACCP program, conducting Audits, corrective actions and training QA team and production teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure full compliance with all government FDA/USDA/SQF food safety regulations and maintain highest possible food safety ratings.

• Create, update and revise food safety, sanitation, maintenance policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with all relevant FDA/USDA and customer standards.

• Approve the release of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products once all quality requirements have been met.

• Implement and manage the product "hold" policy for any non-conforming items.

• Assist with customer complaint investigations, conducting and reporting non-conformances, deviations, and out-of- specification results.

• Capable to use root cause analysis to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions for internal and 3rd party Audits.

• Manage environmental monitoring program and sanitation procedures to ensure all requirements are met.

• Supervise the review and approval of QA/Production documents, such as CCP, CP, preventative program, label verification, sanitation, environmental and maintenance.

• Assist, review and document Food Safety and quality documentation per procedure.

• Monitor labeling department, review and verify labels based on specifications,

ingredient changes, nutritional facts and allergens declarations.

• Ensure compliance with Supplier Chain program by updating specifications, 3rd party certifications and Letter of Guarantee’s.

• Maintain documents and files in an organized manner.

• Must enter operation coolers and freezers areas to verify documentation and certify amounts of products for traceability.

• Review and assure that all food safety and quality documents of the SQF system are correct and complete.

• Participate in environmental monitoring testing, product testing, shelf-life studies, and validation studies.

• Conduct mock recalls.

• Support labeling department to update and print product information.

• Maintain environmental control program records and initiate corrective actions when required.

• Cover Quality Assurance Technicians as needed

• Participate in food safety and quality audits by providing records in an accurate and timely manner.

• Perform Traceability exercises.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to multitask

• Other tasks related to Quality Assurance and Document control might be assigned

• Understanding and experience with food labeling laws.

• Ability to apply knowledge in label development and review.

• Experience with label printing devices, maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting

• Manage and supervise label room staff.

• Maintain ingredients and labeling databases.

• Order and maintain chemical, label, and QA inventories.

Requirements:

• Must be HACCP and PCQI Certified.

• Bachelor’s degree in food science/microbiology/public health or any related field.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance or related field.
