Purpose:
The McCombs School of Business is seeking for driven, confident, enthusiastic undergraduate business students to serve as Student Recruiters and Ambassadors for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. The office of Outreach and Scholarship provides supportive services to prospective students who are interested in pursuing a BBA in business, Internal Transfer, information sessions, continuing students’ scholarships, and high school summer camps.
Student Recruiters play a critical role in shaping the first impressions prospective students and families have of McCombs. This position is important to the success of the entire BBA Program through presentations, campus tours, one on one conversations, and recruitment events. Our Student Recruiters share their authentic student experiences while helping future Longhorns navigate their college decision process.
This position is ideal for undergraduate business students interested in leadership development, public speaking, marketing, mentorship, communications, and administrative tasks. A friendly demeanor, professional appearance, and effective communication are essential for every student recruiter. Below are expectations and policies that all student recruiters should be following during the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities:
Serve as an official ambassador for the McCombs School of Business
Represent McCombs and UT Austin at recruitment, admissions, and yield events
Correspond with prospective students and families on a weekly basis
Deliver engaging presentations to prospective students, families, and campus guests
Facilitate weekly information sessions and lead building tours
Conduct one – on – one appointment with prospective students and families
Assist in planning and execution of admissions, recruitment and yield events
Tour VIP prospective students
Assist with data entry, call projects and mailings
Operate the front desk responsibilities including Texas BBA, Phone calls, and walk ins
Ability to close the Outreach Office
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Must be a McCombs School of Business undergraduate student at UT-Austin enrolled for at least 12 credit hours.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Completed two long-semesters at UT-Austin
Must be able free to work Monday & Fridays between 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Preferred Qualifications:
Optional: Work-Study award for the semester.
Always Represent the McCombs School of Business and the University of Texas in a positive manner and with professionalism
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present to audiences over 100+ attendees
Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, study abroad, internships, or community involvement
Confidence communicating with a vast audience including prospective students, families, alumni, and university guests
Maintain confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information
Attention to detail and ability to focus working in an open area
Experience working with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email (Outlook preferred)
Uphold University Policies, Honor Code and the McCombs Code of Conduct
Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university
Job Expectations:
Arrive at work on time
Record attendance and make updates to student records in a timely manner
Answer phone calls and respond to emails in a timely manner, make referrals as necessary
Straighten/clean shared student workspaces
Maintain an outlook calendar that accurately reflects availability
Submit verbal or written requests for time off at least 1-2 week in advance
Call at least 1 hour prior to the start of a shift if you are going to be
