Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a Food Services Manager to manage a team in our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX.
Position Summary:
The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing food service operations within the facility, ensuring meals meet dietary needs, safety, and security requirements. This position ensures that all meals are prepared and distributed in accordance with nutritional guidelines, safety regulations, and facility policies. The Food Service Manager will coordinate with dietary and healthcare professionals to accommodate all dietary needs while maintaining regulation compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee daily food service operations, ensuring adherence to nutritional guidelines, food safety standards, and security protocols.
- Collaborate with dietitians, healthcare providers, and medical staff to accommodate dietary requirements and medical restrictions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.
- Provide staff training; evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by management.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, food orders, and meal counts, while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
- Inspect food for quantity, quality, and temperature; ensure proper storage and use of inventory; and supervises the monitoring and logging of temperatures.
- Ensure kitchen is maintained in a clean, neat, and organized manner.
- Prepare and manage the food service budget and requisitions, monitor expenditures, and optimize cost-effective meal planning without compromising quality or security.
- Implement strict inventory control measures to prevent theft, misuse, or unauthorized access to food supplies and equipment; monitor and enforce tool and utensil accountability procedures to prevent security risks.
- Plan, assign, and supervise the work of staff; review staff work schedules for adequate coverage; establish and administer orientation and departmental in-service training programs for food service staff.
- Instruct staff on safety rules and regulations, proper use of soaps and chemicals including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), sanitary procedures, food preparation and portion control, and the operation of food service equipment.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and report necessary repairs or replacements.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or a related field preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare, correctional, or institutional setting with at least two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees. Must have and maintain, valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include passing an annual background check.
