Description
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Department: Pharmacology
Job Title: Laboratory Sciences Professional (Open Rank: Entry to Senior)
Position #00836202 – Requisition #37212
Job Summary:
As a Research Services Professional in the Oliphant Lab, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on understanding tumor initiation and therapeutic resistance using advanced molecular and cellular techniques. Our research integrates multi-omic approaches, organoid modeling, and metabolic profiling to identify early transformation events in BRCA1/2 mutation carriers and to uncover mechanisms driving resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand your technical skills while gaining exposure to cutting-edge cancer biology. Depending on experience level, you may also take on responsibilities in project coordination, data analysis, or lab operations, with opportunities to grow professionally in a collaborative and innovative research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, immunostaining)
- Culture and maintain cell lines and 3D organoid models
- Process and manage human tissue and biospecimen samples
- Manage lab inventory, order supplies, and oversee equipment maintenance.
- Support training and onboarding of new lab members (as appropriate).
It is not required to be an expert in the above key responsibilities, since Dr. Mike Oliphant will train you as needed. However, prior experience with 3D organoid culture or tissue management is desirable. Our goal together would be to complete key responsibilities efficiently such that there would be ample time to learn new research skills based on your interests. These may include performing and analyzing high-throughput drug screening experiments, bioinformatic analyses (single-cell, metabolomics and proteomics data) and mouse drug treatment studies.
Why Join Us:
Join a dynamic and growing research lab dedicated to advancing our understanding of breast cancer prevention and treatment resistance. As part of a newly established lab, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to building core infrastructure, developing experimental workflows, and supporting high-impact projects focused on single-cell genomics, organoid modeling, and cancer metabolism. This open-rank position is ideal for candidates at various stages of their research careers—whether you're looking to build a strong technical foundation or expand your leadership and project management experience. We value initiative, scientific rigor, and mentorship, and are committed to providing a collaborative environment where team members can grow professionally, contribute meaningfully to discovery, and help shape the future of the lab.
