Job Description

The Sr. HR Partner is acting as the strategic partner facilitating the people strategy by implementing appropriate HR measures aligned with the business strategy. The role ensures the right application of HR standards, policies and processes as well as advises leadership and associates on people topics. The assigned engineering client groups in Farmington Hills (Fh) and their extended teams across NA focus on gasoline/diesel ICE as well as fuel cell/H2, software and thermal management solution. This represents a mix of mature established and new growing business. This individual contributor role reports into the HR Director for Powertrain Solutions North America.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategy Partner:

  • Actively participates in local management meetings and embeds global P&O strategy with local business strategy
  • Transfers business requests (e. g. sustainable high performing organization / culture) into new HR measures if applicable in co-creation with HR expert organization
  • Anticipates future developments, proactively shows implications and initiates corresponding measures

Leadership consultant:

  • Consults on individual leadership cases and acts as sparring partner on eye level
  • Co-creates with leaders the plans for demand and supply of talent, for short- and long-term business needs
  • Is a sparring partner for business leaders on leadership behaviors and practices, employee engagement, people performance strategies and tactics
  • Proactively provides feedback and consultation on leadership topics (e. g. by working with EX results)
  • Proposes training / development measures to leaders

Organizational development consultant:

  • Supports organization design activities to streamline and implement new organization structures, roles and/or processes that create agility and efficiency and support rapidly shifting business demands
  • Implements change management strategies being a change agent and enables leaders
  • Develops and tracks appropriate metrics to assesses organizational performance systemically  and ensures successful achievement of targets, at the same time that leverages benchmark data as comparison for world class performance, defining gaps and proposing HR solutions that support business objectives
  • Supports the strategic workforce planning (quantitative, qualitative, regional view, brings about a decision (buy/build/borrow etc.)
  • Supports and promotes new ways of working

People partner:

  • Facilitates career development opportunities for talents
  • Consults on individual skills and consults on skill and learning journey
  • Inspires and fosters a strong learning culture and mindset to become a Learning Company
  • Is contact person for associates in case of critical people topics

Associate relations consultant:

  • Consult, guide, coach and provide expertise to leaders on complex topics to address associate behavior and performance concerns; provide guidance regarding the development and delivery of appropriate feedback and corrective/disciplinary action that aligns company policies and applicable employment law
  • Work closely with leaders and employees to improve positive work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention of talent
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies/procedures or labor laws

Data Analyst:

  • Continuously monitors and analyses available HR reports, dashboards and data 
  • Filters relevant HR data and combines different data sources for interpretation
  • Analyses data to examine hypotheses
  • Makes up to-date-driven proposals for HR measures

The Sr. HR Partner develops effective partnerships with HRBP peers, the CoE organization as well as HR Service.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor degree
  • 5+ years professional HR experience in a multinational company

Skills/Competencies:

  • Proven ability to learn fast
  • Must be a self-starter with high accountability, able to balance multiple priorities and projects simultaneously meeting deadlines while facing changing needs of the business
