As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll work to develop solutions and tools for fraud detection, including building and supporting custom machine learning detection services and models. You will be involved in all aspects of the development and support lifecycle, including data acquisition, feature engineering, model training and model tuning. The Senior Data Scientist will work in an exciting and engaging environment to implement useful and accurate detection solutions and help protect the enterprise and its customers.

What you will do:

  • Develop and support existing fraud detection models and alerts. Expand existing models by implementing new scope and adding or reengineering data features to improve the effectiveness of these solutions
  • Develop and support new fraud detection solutions for new and emerging threats. Models developed will provide additional controls and alerting to high-risk customer processes
  • Work on all aspects of the development and support lifecycle. Identify appropriate data sources for model input. Engineer useful data features for input into the detection models
  • Build, train and support both supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms. Guide and manage the solution implementation from development through production
  • Work closely with key business partners to identify and prioritize a road map and deliverables, including model enhancements, new solutions, and new models
  • Analyze model results for effectiveness and communicate these results to the business community, along with suggestions to improve the solution’s effectiveness

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in data science, fraud detection or related consulting
  • Hands-on work experience building custom machine learning models, and analyzing unstructured data
  • Expert technical competency analyzing large datasets using software such as Python, SAS, SQL and Splunk. Experience using the results of this analysis to build proactive detection solutions as well as support forensic investigations
  • Programming experience in the multiple phases of a complex modeling initiative – data preprocessing, feature engineering, algorithm selection, model training & evaluation, and on-going support of models in production

What will set you apart: 

  • Experience building solutions using Amazon Web Services tools and infrastructure
  • Polished written and oral communication skills, with ability to present and clearly explain data to non-technical executive audiences
  • Strong project management skills / experience managing projects, budgets, and schedules to successful completion
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative/statistical discipline
  • Prior exposure to the financial services industry is preferred
