Position Overview
Local and Community Affairs Development Associate will lead local outreach and act as relationship lead with county/municipal officials, local taxing bodies, chambers, and Economic Development Organizations where Invenergy has a development presence.
Responsibilities
Represent the Project and/or Invenergy in meetings with county/municipal officials, local taxing bodies, landowners, and other local and state stakeholders and in public meetings hosted by the project.
Understand and explain the benefits of projects to host community members.
Work with Invenergy’s Development team to negotiate and obtain certain county and municipal approvals required for project development.
Monitor local project opposition and develop relationships and educate key individuals to neutralize or mitigate the spread of opposition.
Close coordination with Invenergy’s Government Affairs team as necessary with outreach to local, State, and Federal officials.
Close coordination with Invenergy’s Communications team with external communications including community events, public meetings hosted by the project, presentations, collateral, mailings and media relations.
Required Skills
Experience with local political and stakeholder engagement (preferably in rural areas).
A BS or BA from an accredited college program.
3-5+ years of total work experience.
Ability to spend approximately 50% of time traveling locally (NE).
Valid driver's license.
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
Preferably work experience in in local economic or real estate project development, and/or in the renewable and clean energy industry.
Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills.
Strong public speaking and personal skills.
Familiarity with energy project development, real estate development, transmission, and power project engineering is advantageous.
Ability to write effective, concise reports.
