Summary The Accounts Receivable Specialist manages incoming payments, properly tracking them into the system to maintain accurate bookkeeping records. An Accounts Receivables Specialist has the following responsibilities.
Objectives of this role:
- Support the company in optimizing our financial transactions and systems by performing reconciliation of payments and customer accounts.
- Communicate discrepancies to the management team, identify slow-paying customers, and recommend collection candidates.
- Strengthen and grow relationships with clients by communicating with customers regarding past-due accounts.
- Assist in streamlining the accounts receivable process by identifying areas for performance improvement.
- Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting and comply with national and local financial requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounts receivable functions:
- Gather and verify invoices for appropriate documentation before payment.
- Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared.
- Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledger.
- Monitor and collect accounts receivable by contacting clients via telephone, email, and mail.
- Prepare analytical and ratio analyses relevant to A/R so management can gain a better understanding of how collection efforts are progressing.
- Assist with external audit requests relating to A/R.
- Support other accounting and finance team members, inventory management, and cost accounting.
General support functions:
- Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records.
- Assist in month end reporting procedures.
- Find and use accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies.
- Assist with employee expense reports.
- Perform filing and general administrative tasks.
- Liaise with other departments/customers/vendors.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent one-three year experience in clerical accounting.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write
simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions,
and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
