JOB TITLE: Senior Director, Data & Insights
LOCATION: REMOTE
THE ROLE: As Senior Director, Data Insights, you’ll be responsible for our cross-functional data insights team, supporting departments including Marketing, Product, Content, and Finance. You will set a high standard for excellence for what great data insights look like, as well as build competency at the company for a high level of rigor on what great experimentation looks like, and how to drive data-based decision-making. Being able to nurture strong cross-functional relationships built on trust and collaboration is critical to this role. This role will report directly to the CEO.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead, coach, and grow Splice’s data science and insights team, spanning various departments and functions.
- Create and foster a culture of measurement, developing insights, and learning throughout the company – supporting key leaders across Product, Marketing, Content & Finance.
- Partner closely with our Data Engineering organization to build best-in-class infrastructure in an increasingly data-driven organization cross-functionally.
- Maintain high standards for your team and cross-functional partners and a high bar in terms of experimentation rigor, data analysis, and insights.
- Show curiosity about our customer outcomes and our business, identifying higher-level insights and opportunities across departments to elevate Splice to the next level of performance and growth.
- Build strong relationships of trust across departments and with your peers so your department continues to be seen as a reliable source of learning and “truth” about our business.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience building data and analytics infrastructure and reporting tools.
- 4+ years of experience growing, managing, and mentoring data science teams.
- A track record of setting a clear vision for data and inspiring other leaders and team members to achieve collective goals.
- Experience working with, and supporting cross-functional leaders in product and marketing functions.
- Technical mastery of query/scripting languages and analytics tools (SQL, Python/R, Looker preferred), and ETL languages and tools (dbt, Airflow, SQLMesh).
- Proven experience translating raw data sources into trusted, maintainable, and interpretable data models that drive impactful decision-making.
- Understanding of a broad spectrum of methods and disciplines in data science and analytics, with deeper skills in at least one of these fields: machine learning, data analytics, decision science, operations research, data modeling, business intelligence, or data engineering.
- Proficiency with infrastructure and/or backend engineering, evolving and scaling back-end services, data models, and storage.
- Effective communication skills to convey data-driven analyses and methodologies to diverse audiences.
- Strong sense of curiosity, combined with a love for data; You’re detail-oriented and are driven to discover actionable insights in a large pool of structured and unstructured data.
