JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Manager is a self-directed leader responsible for providing strategic and operational direction for Magna Engineered Glass warehousing, while overseeing the material handler group across multiple shifts. This role supports and prioritizes the activities of the assigned team, ensuring a safe work environment and that products meet customer expectations for cost, quality, and delivery. The position leads continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts in alignment with the Mafact Production System and drives the use of world-class practices and tools such as QAD, Mafact, PFEP, WMS, and receipt process automation. Key responsibilities include managing inventory levels, ensuring on-time shipment of finished goods, overseeing the procurement, receipt, and storage of raw materials, and optimizing transportation and distribution methods. The Materials Manager also collaborates globally to pursue new business growth opportunities and is accountable for translating long-term corporate goals into actionable short-term plans, as well as preparing and managing annual budgets and business plans that support broader organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety/5S/EHS- Ensures full compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass EHS policies, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Promptly reports any hazardous conditions or workplace injuries to EHS representative. Addresses and corrects unsafe conditions or behaviors and recognizes positive safety performance within the work area. Ensures employees are properly trained to identify job-specific hazards. Conducts routine safety inspections to maintain compliance with Health and Safety and ISO14001 standards. Leads accident and incident investigations and supports risk assessments for new or modified equipment and processes. Responsible for supporting departmental safety performance, including meeting measurable safety goals, enforcing safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with safety policies. Must lead by example and take corrective action when safety standards are not met.
- Quality- Makes quality control decisions based on established quality standards and checks. Identifies opportunities for common mistake proofing. Understands quality control plans. Accurately tracks and measures defects and performs a defect analysis. Ensures standardized work is followed and maintained.
- Communication- Clearly communicates performance across all areas of the business, including Policy, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Equity, Productivity, and general Focus Factory updates during pre-shift, team, and tier meetings. Monitors key performance metrics and evaluates them against safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets. Takes appropriate action to meet or exceed goals and proactively informs the management team of any significant deviations to support timely corrective actions and maintain alignment with expectations.
- Staffing- Manages weekly staffing needs through subordinate Team Leaders based on customer demand and the production schedule, in coordination with the materials team. Ensures proper coverage with trained personnel to meet operational requirements. Oversees team timesheets, vacation schedules, overtime assignments, weekend coverage, and call-ins to maintain adequate staffing levels and support production goals.
