The Data Engineer Senior focuses on acquiring data from various sources that are found in a Health System?s ecosystem. The Data Engineer Senior leverages existing data operating system or builds the environment to acquire data. Data Engineer Seniors are facile in both the technical and business details of the source systems and are proficient with multiple technologies on how to acquire the source data. Defines tasks, assignments and standards related to sourcing data and maintaining a stable data platform; intermediate to expert level skills 

* Design, develop and implement scalable custom solutions that require extensibility either via SSIS or Plugins, APIs, etc. 

* Oversee bringing new source systems into the data operating System 

* Coach and train other Data Engineers on best practices and design principles 

* Schedules, coordinates, and leads design reviews 

* Involved in internal technology review sessions to understand new/deprecated features and their impacts to implementation process along with provide feedback to the technology team 

* Balance tasks and priorities between multiple projects and initiatives; ensure assigned tasks are executed efficiently and according to project requirements and timelines

Performs job duties in a manner which will ensure a physical environment free of hazards to self and others.

* Bachelor's degree in technology, business, or healthcare-related degree 

* 4+ years' experience in healthcare/technology-related field 

* Ability to code and comprehend code around technologies that deal with acquiring data 

Preferred: 

* 1+ experience in the Health Catalyst DO Platform 

* Experience with processing HL7 messages, CCD documents, and EDI X12 Claims files 

* Familiarity with development methodologies, including the AGILE development approaches 

* Experience and/or training in continuous improvement methodologies including Lean & Six Sigma, Change Management, Facilitation Skills and Project Management
