Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for Stores Management Software to join the BDS Software Products and Capabilities located in Tukwila, WA.

You will be joining a team of software engineers from across the Boeing Enterprise who are executing best practices and developing cutting-edge software to deliver the best value to our customers and warfighters. A successful candidate will highlight their interest in, experience with, and eagerness to learn all phases of the software development lifecycle, and be excited to deliver quality stores management software. This software will control and monitor aircraft stores (e.g., weapons) and will manage communications between the weapon and the aircraft.

A successful candidate will be self-motivated and professional, passionate about the mission and passionate about developing modern software solutions in cloud-based DevSecOps environments, and will embrace continuous learning and improvement. Experience with safety critical software, as well as interfaces and protocols such as RS-485, Ethernet, CAN bus, 1553, and discretes is a plus.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for stores management software systems
  • Leads development of code and integration of stores management software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plans, executes and documents software projects in an Agile environment
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
  • Works under minimal direction and alongside geographically-dispersed teams of Engineering and Program Management professionals

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain US Security clearance (post-start).

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.  Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing embedded software
  • 1+ years of experience with safety critical software
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance (Post-Start)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Proficient in Linux and AWS development environments
  • Proven experience with hardware/software integration and developing to ICDs
  • 3+ years leading a software team
  • 3+ years developing safety critical, safety certifiable, and/or LOR-2 software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with tools for Continuous Integration/Delivery, Version Control, and Build Automation such as Git and Gitlab
  • Stores Management System (i.e., weapon subsystem) experience
