GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Plans, directs, and oversees the wellness service programs of Senior Services of Southeastern VA. 

Position performs under general supervision and reports to the Senior Director of Operations. Supervision is exercised over departmental personnel and contractors.

TYPICAL TASKS

• Assumes responsibility for development and maintenance of the department’s budget, overall operations, and policies and procedures.
• Develops and implements systems to ensure effective and efficient operations and services.
•  Explores new initiatives to improve existing services and program growth. 
• Ensures that services and programs operate in compliance with health and safety and all other regulations.
• Assumes human resources responsibilities of direct reports to include interviewing and hiring, counseling, training, disciplining, and evaluating work performance of staff.
• Works with colleagues to maintain customer loyalty and appeal to new customers.
• Ensures that activities and educational classes which are helpful in promoting independence, functionality, health, and overall well-being for seniors are integrated into the programming at congregate sites.
• Assures safety of food services so that customers and staff are always protected. 
• Writes reports on performance and targets.
• Analyzes  results of surveys on wellness services.
• Establishes targets and budget for training, quality assurance and daily practice to ensures staff performance at highest levels.
• Establishes and maintains working relationships with government, community, and other agency resources.
• Ensures that our suite of evidence-based wellness classes remain relevant and follow fidelity best practices.
• Performs additional tasks as required.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• · Considerable knowledge of activities concerning health and wellness programs under The Older Americans Act Reauthorization. 
• · Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques. 
• · Plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, assign, and evaluate the work of subordinate employees. 
• · Prepare accurate plans, cost estimates, and reports. 
• · Maintain a variety of technical records and records systems for computerization.
• · Ability to make accurate computation cost projections. 
• · Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to prepare reports of a complex technical nature. 
• · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, government and agency officials, and the general public.
• · This role is based in our office five days each week to foster team collaboration and hands-on engagement with our projects. However, we value flexibility and understand the need for remote work under certain circumstances. Therefore, we offer the option to work remotely when necessary to accommodate the work that is to be accomplished. • · This position is located at our Norfolk office, but will require working in our Western Tidewater office, and local senior centers as well.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• ·A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, or related field required.
• · Five (5) years of business operations and program management experience at the middle management level or above.
• Must possess a valid and current Virginia Driver’s license and meet the agency driving eligibility standards.
