Description
We are searching for a skilled, creative, and detail-oriented Staff Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, driving and managing technological advancement within Product Development. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, manufacturing and factory representatives, and design engineers to detail the implementation of technological features within new products. You will be expected to mentor junior and mid-level engineering staff by teaching strong engineering skills and sound technical principles.
Your responsibilities include vetting functional performance, providing technical guidance on complex problems, identifying risk and liability within design, and providing acceptable solutions to mitigate failures. As a technical expert, you will be expected to provide support for additional groups within the organization.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop, fabricate, and test prototypes of new products and technologies to determine usability and make improvements to existing products
- Research and develop new technologies that pertain to the Outdoor Cooking industry or related product categories
- Work and manage projects that have strategic value while driving technical design
- Provide mentorship and educational progression of the engineering team
- Works closely with the PM group to develop a roadmap and plan for advancing features in the griddle space
- Utilizes additional engineering resources to provide feasibility and innovation options
- Develop or maintain processes and technical knowledge within the engineering group
- Ensure that product integrity and quality align with company standards
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 15+ years of experience in product design or research and development
- Extensive knowledge in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), materials and processes, and manufacturing methods
- Skills in prototyping with a variety of materials and fabrication methods
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with testing equipment and CAD (SolidWorks pref)
- Excellent communication, collaboration and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with PDM, PLM, GD&T, DFM and Welding Standards is a plus
- CSWP is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
