Job Description
The Radiology Technical Aide performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, non-technical and patient related functions. Radiology Technical Aide is responsible for assisting radiologists, technologists, nurses and other clinical and support staff and providing a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, preparation for the visit, assistance with procedures, and patient transporting. The Radiology Technical Aide may be assigned to work in a variety of imaging sections, assist multiple radiology modalities and/or clinical services per operational needs.
Radiology Tech Associates are responsible for the following:
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Assist in Radiological rooms by giving blankets, bedpans, clothing changes, etc. to the patient and assist the technologists as needed.
- Inspect and replenish stock and linen in all patient care areas. Ensures adequate inventory of stock & non-stock supplies. Prepare the examination room for the next procedure.
- Provides back-up to the front office Registrars and film room staff and perform numerous “special projects” and clean-up tasks as assigned.
- Trains new transporters/escorts in proper patient care techniques. Procures appropriate patient documentation prior to leaving the nursing floor.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Physical ability to lift and position patients and assist with patient transfers utilizing beds, wheelchairs or stretchers.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meets objectives and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
Minimum Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent. Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Any combination of training and/or experience that will allow the incumbent to perform the listed duties.
- Previous medical office experience is desired.
