Summary: The Production Scheduler role is responsible for coordinating schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned department or facility.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Train and learn on essential systems, ERP especially EPICOR.
  • Collaborate with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
  • Create work orders as sales orders are entered and close work orders as they are completed.
  • Rearrange jobs in work centers as needed to meet customer orders.
  • Review and edit run quantities, reorder points, and safety stock orders depending on changes in usage.
  • Communicate with production team as to priorities and assist production when needed with scheduling issues.
  • Schedule outside suppliers.
  • Communicate with other departments with regards to parts needed at outside suppliers.
  • Periodically compare current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; use judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.
  • Integrate sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
  • Maintain master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen principles.
  • Extremely proficient with production planning systems, such as MRP II.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems – preferred EPICOR.
  • Understanding of principles of Kaizen.
  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to work in a busy office and production environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
