Job Summary: Under general supervision, manages a specialty surgical care team, ensuring smooth daily operations and coverage during absences. Handles various tasks including scheduling appointments, obtaining authorizations, coordinating tests, and facilitating communication between physicians. Also, responsible for administrative duties such as managing referrals, handling urgent requests, and assisting with financial matters.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with three years' experience in consumer services, preferably in a surgical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial.
Essential Functions:
- Answers phone calls and schedules appointments while maintaining service standards.
- Ensures authorization for appointments and ancillary studies, and updates records accordingly.
- Coordinates tests and treatments, ensuring timely receipt of results.
- Facilitates communication between physicians, cancels/reschedules appointments as needed.
- Reviews digitized studies, schedules ambulatory procedures, and manages referrals.
- Handles urgent requests, manages insurance authorizations, and assists with billing.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proficient in using multiple computer software systems.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Maintains a positive attitude in interactions with the public.
Work Environment: Medical office environment
Physical Requirements:
- Involves standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, and seeing.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
