A Day in the Life

Embark on an exciting career journey as a Manufacturing Engineer I at our Brooklyn Center manufacturing site. In this foundational role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes that enhance efficiency and ensure the highest quality standards. You will play a crucial part in developing layouts, sequences, and procedures for assembly, equipment installation, and material handling.

Collaborating with our engineering team, you will adapt machine designs to factory conditions, incorporate inspection requirements, and initiate corrective actions to optimize performance. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline

Nice to Have

  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and demonstrated self-initiative
  • Experience and knowledge in the assembly process of medical devices, with fixture design requiring automation and integration of the process from laser etching to packaging
  • Excellent documentation skills in a regulated environment  
  • Experience planning, authoring, testing, and documenting sequence code for PC-based manufacturing equipment  
  • Ability to create and interpret flow charts, state diagrams, and sequence diagrams  
  • Ability to author and interpret software requirements and test cases
