Job Overview
Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking a Mechanical Technician, Certified to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and install mechanical equipment and systems supporting NASA facilities and operations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Inspect, adjust, repair, clean, and service machinery.
- Diagnose equipment defects through inspection or disassembly and examination of moving parts and mechanical components.
- Tighten, loosen, set, and adjust gears, guides, rollers, pinions, and other mechanical components.
- Remove defective parts and repair or replace them as required.
- Overhaul, install, and align pumps, motors, and mechanical drives.
- Perform mechanical inspections, adjustments, and repairs to hoists, monorail cranes, derricks, and elevators.
- Service, repair, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Assist with or complete work in other craft areas as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school diploma or GED with successful completion of a related vocational program.
- Five (5) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
- Must be licensed by the State of Mississippi in the area of backflow prevention or certified as a drum watcher for derrick operations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain the required NASA badge.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Good organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work with computers.
- Ability to work independently while following detailed instructions.
- Ability to interface with personnel at all organizational levels in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
Preferred:
- Prior knowledge of a NASA site or experience working on government installations.
Working Conditions:
- Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work. Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.
