Healthcare Billing Coder, ASC

-Role is remote Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
-50% Medical Coding / 50% Accounts Receivable


Coder is responsible for auditing practice and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) medical and billing records to ensure coding and operations compliance.
Responsibilities include:
• Keep abreast of all government, commercial payer, and corporate coding policy additions, deletions, and changes.
• Review for accuracy in coding for services performed at facilities.
• Review for coding compliance with the ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding guidelines.
• Review for coding compliance with CMS rules and regulations.
• Review for operational compliance to include verification of accurate posting of charges and timeliness of charge posting.
• Enter completed findings into database.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare or medical billing office required demonstrating:
◦ Understanding of medical terminology.
◦ Experience verifying insurance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors.
◦ Experience in obtaining pre-authorizations and/or referrals from insurance carriers.
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
